Alfa Romeo unveils new Giulietta across Europe

Alfa Romeo has pulled the covers off its new Giulietta hatchback in a coordinated unveiling at five locations across Europe. The main event was hosted in at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Milan, the manufacturer’s founding home.

The new arrival has been given a styling update to emphasis the model’s close ties to the brand’s Giulia sports saloon. Changes are seen on the front in particular, where a bold new honeycomb grille joins piano black bumper inserts plus refreshed headlamp and fog lamp surrounds. 11 body colour options are available, which includes two new choices, alongside two alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the upholstery and finishes have been uprated for a more refined look and feel. The specification levels have also been improved with five to choose from. The entry-level Giulietta features new grey and black fabric seats with Alfa Romeo branding on the head restraints, alongside luxury floor mats.

The updated interior design is joined by an impressive collection of standard equipment. The dashboard gets a five-inch touchscreen as part of the Uconnect LIVE system with Bluetooth® connectivity. There’s also an Alfa DNA selector, audio remote controls on the steering wheel, and paddle gear shifters on models fitted with the TCT gearbox.
That gearbox joins nine powertrain options which offer varying levels of performance to satisfy buyers that want maximum thrills from their hatchback. A new 118bhp 1.6-litre JTDM-2 turbo diesel unit joins the line-up with second-generation MultiJet technology. The engine’s power and 320Nm of torque from just 1,7450rpm is channelled through a TCT twin dry-clutch transmission for eager acceleration. It can also return a fuel-saving 74.3mpg combined to look after the wallet.

Alfa Romeo’s comprehensive updates for the Giulietta strengthen its position as one of the most desirable compact hatchbacks on the market. The model goes on sale at our Maidstone dealership on April 1, 2016, and before then you can book in for a test drive as soon as the first models are delivered.
