Lipscomb Corporate Information
Lipscomb Cars Ltd was formed in 1996 by Peter Barnes and his wife Debra following the disposal of their interests in an Essex Volvo dealership to a PLC group.
The name "Lipscomb" was already established in Ashford having been a Volvo dealer since the 70's called K&V Lipscomb Motors and this interest was acquired along with a new facility in Chartham, Canterbury to represent the Volvo marque across East Kent.
A third Volvo business was added in 2001 by acquiring an established outlet in Bearsted, Maidstone increasing Volvo representation to both East and West Kent.
In late 2005 Lipscomb acquired 2.5 acres of land for development in Aylesford, Maidstone as part of the company strategy to develop further franchise representation and a two year expansion programme commenced.
The Bearsted facility closed in late 2006 with operations moving to a state of the art dealership complex at Aylesford, Maidstone which today houses showrooms and aftersales facilities for Volvo, Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and the exciting Abarth franchise for all of Kent. This new facility has won accolades from manufacturers and the press and was built in record time by local contractors Gallagher Construction.
In 2006 Isuzu was also added to the Ashford location pending planned changes for 2007 to increase Fiat representation to the Ashford and Folkestone areas. Volvo sales representation transferred to the Canterbury and Aylesford locations whilst still retaining full Volvo Service & Parts Centre status.
In 2007 Lipscomb successfully refurbished their Canterbury and Ashford dealerships, which along with the Maidstone (Aylesford) facility now provide excellent facilities for all the brands they represent which are amongst the best in the country.
In 2008 Lipscomb increased their expansion of Fiat representation at the Ashford dealership to include Fiat Light Commercial vehicles as well as cars. Plus the addition of Alfa Romeo and Abarth at the Maidstone dealership.
The Lipscomb Group now represent the following franchises from three locations:
Volvo - located at Maidstone and Canterbury. Service and Parts Only at Ashford Location
Lotus Kent - located at Maidstone representing Kent
Fiat - located at Maidstone & Ashford
Alfa - located at Maidstone
Abarth Kent - located at Maidstone representing Kent
Isuzu - located at Ashford
