IS EUROPE’S BEST DRIVING ROUTE AROUND MAIDSTONE AND CANTERBURY?
LIPSCOMB VOLVO URGES LOCALS TO PUT THE AREA ON THE MAP IN VOLVO’S COMPETITION TO WIN A NEW S60
Lipscomb Volvo at Maidstone and Canterbury is urging locals to nominate driving routes in the region as the best in Europe as part of Volvo UK’s newly launched Facebook competition to win a brand new S60 R-DESIGN.
Facebook users simply ‘like’ the Inside Volvo Facebook page to gain access to enter the competition. Of course, staff at the businesses, Lipscomb Maidstone at Forstal Road, Aylesford, and Lipscomb Canterbury at Chartham, (who obviously are unable to enter the competition themselves) believe some of the most scenic driving routes can be found a few miles from their doorstep.
A coastal route taking in the resorts of Herne Bay and Whitstable as well as the spectacular spires of Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or even a trip that follows the peaceful River Medway from Maidstone taking in the stunning Leeds Castle are easily contenders for the ‘Greatest Drive’ competition.
Says Lipscomb Managing Director Peter Barnes: "Whilst entrants can choose a route from all over Europe, we have the choice of heading to the coast taking in Victorian architecture and beautiful beaches or the country which takes you to the edge of the North Downs, providing a huge amount of choice for any road trip. We’re hoping that local people get their thinking caps on and enter a few local driving routes and place our region even more firmly on the world map – we may even consider changing our test drive route, especially if it wins!"Volvo Car UK’s Inside Volvo UK Facebook to find Europe's greatest drive, as voted for by its fans, is also the UK's largest ever single giveaway on Facebook. The Greatest Drive competition isn't just about trying to find which road is the best in Europe to drive on since a journey can mean so much more. It can be about the views you take in or the people you are with, an open top 200 mile ride or a thrill seeking 2 mile blast through the mountains, the choice is down to the individual.
Until 3rd July 2011, fans will have a chance to submit their greatest drive into the competition using Google Maps on Volvo's Facebook page. Along with the route, the entrant will have the opportunity to explain why they think their drive is the greatest. Between the 4th July and 17th July 2011, a top 10 shortlist of 'Greatest Drive' entries will be announced on Inside Volvo UK so they can be can viewed, commented, liked and shared. From the 18th to 31st July, the final three entries will be announced. Each of the final three will have a short film made about their journey and then posted on the Inside Volvo UK site when the final round of voting will take place. All voters will be entered into a sweepstake draw to win runners' up prizes which consist of six pairs of tickets to the 'The Ultimate Dynamic Driving Day' at Ultimate Car Control where the team will coach the winners in the art of dynamic driving techniques.
On 1st August, the short film with the most votes will be announced as the winner of the competition and the entrant will be the lucky new owner of a brand new Volvo S60 R-Design.
