Penned by Fiat Style Centre, the new Fiat 500 is a triumph of pure Italian design. Every line has been carefully crafted to emulate the legendary original. As with the classic, this fresh car will only be offered with three doors, and it has tiny dimensions. Measuring 355cm long, 165cm wide and 149cm tall, the baby is around the same size as a Citroen C2.

The new Fiat 500's size is disguised by its bulging panels, with a cute pronounced crease running down the shoulder. The elegant flat nose features Fiat's latest red badge, flanked by chrome strips. At the rear, the front-engined 500 has a conventional tailgate to maximise practicality. A glass roof panel will let plenty of light into the cabin, and buyers will be presented with a huge array of colours and options to customise their car.

The new Fiat 500 offers you a wide range of engines to choose from.  For a start, there's the new TwinAir, Fiat's revolutionary twin cylinder engine that downsizes everything from displacement to emissions and consumption - but not performance.  The TwinAir 0.9 Turbo delivers 85hp thanks to electronic airflow control and fuel injection and gives better performance than far bigger engines as well as less fuel consumption. 

The new Fiat 500 range includes another three engines (1.2hp, 1.4 16v 100hp and 1.3 MultiJet 16v 95hp).  The turbodiesel engines are paired up with 5-speed mechanical gearboxes, while the petrol options give you a choice of a mechanical gearbox (5-speed for the 1.2 and 6-speed for the 1.4) or a Dualogic robotised gearbox (with a steering wheel paddle shift option).  Whatever engine and gearbox you choose, and whatever the route in front of you, one thing is certain: behind the wheel of a Fiat 500, it's hard not to feel happy, free and that little bit brighter.
