The last few months have been challenging to say the least, and we hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

Ever since closing our showroom and offering a reduced aftersales service to key workers and assisting with customer breakdowns and recalls in light of the Coronavirus pandemic, we’ve been monitoring the situation closely while planning how to reopen our showrooms responsibly when the time comes.

We are pleased to announce that following government advice, our service departments have now re-opened for service and repairs to all customers at our Canterbury and Maidstone dealerships.Our Ashford service department remains temporarily closed, with all service and repairs for these customers being facilitated through our Maidstone dealership for the time being. For your safety, we will be adhering to government guidelines on social distancing and sanitation practices, allowing you to visit us with total peace of mind, so you will see a few changes when visiting the team.This includes the request for all customers to use the provided hand sanitiser on arrival and when leaving the showroom, footprints on the floor identifying the correct 2m distancing from other people within the dealerships and protective screens on service advisors desks to name a few.We would also encourage all customers coming into the dealership to please come alone where possible and make sure an appointment has been confirmed with a member of staff prior to visiting the dealership.

Whilst your vehicle is in our workshop, disposable 5-in-1 protective sets for seats, steering wheels, gear knob, handbrake and floor mats will be used and all touch points will be sanitised, such as handles, steering wheel, dashboard, gear lever, button and switches, seat belts, keys etc. Please be assured these measures have been taken as a precaution not only for our staff, but also to give you reassurance that visiting us has and will continue to be a safe and welcoming experience.

Whilst our car showrooms still remain closed for the time being for physical viewings following government guidelines, we are open for the sale of new or used vehicles through our virtual showroom online or by contact over the phone with the support of key staff members and are able to provide a “home delivery” service within a 50-mile radius of our showrooms.

Our dedicated team can be contacted Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm, either by calling the dealership or by completing the "Contact Us" or "Make an Enquiry" forms online.We are also able to provide virtual video tours of any vehicle in stock that may be of interest to you.We hope to reopen again fully in early June, when the time is right and observing government guidelines.

Updated 29/04/20 - Here to Support You with Advice and Key Information

Keeping your battery healthy, your tyres inflated and giving your car a thorough clean, could make all the difference when lockdown measures are finally lifted. See below just a few of our top tips on how you can still look after your vehicle whilst it’s not being used.

Make sure everything is off.

When you leave your car, make sure that  nothing has been left running in or on the car. Sidelights and the radio are two of the most obvious examples, and ones that can quickly drain the battery. However, look out for auxiliary items too – sat-navs, for instance, can put a drain on the car. The last thing you want is to return to your car in a week’s time to find out that the battery is flat​

Check tyre pressures.

It’s a good idea to regularly check your vehicles tyre pressure, as they can lose pressure in time, even when not in motion. The tyre pressure for your vehicle can be found in the vehicle handbook. To top them up, you can either use a compressor, which can be purchased relatively cheaply online, or with a foot pump.  Please don’t make a special trip out to use an inflator anywhere else though.

Keep it Clean, if safe to do so.

If you hadn’t cleaned your car before parking it away, it’s a good idea to do so, to remove any dirt collected. Only do this if you are able to observe social distancing and clean your vehicle on your own private property.  Please don’t make a special journey or take it somewhere to be cleaned, as this is not an “essential” reason for travel.

Fiat Chrysler Automobile Aftersales Update

We would like to reassure all of our customers with a FCA manufacturer warranty, a MOPAR maintenance plan or extended warranty that will expire during the lockdown period or in the following month. In these instances, please contact FCA’s Customer Services Centre who will provide you with a case number and the expiry or the validity period of the services will be extended until the following month from the end of the shutdown.

Volvo Assistance Update

For all customers that currently have Volvo Assistance with their vehicle and their plan is due to expire in this lockdown period, Volvo Car UK have confirmed that this will extended by up to 3 months, which should help give you reassurance at this time.

We are anticipating to slowly bring back our aftersales and repairs facility at our Canterbury and Maidstone dealerships from Monday 11th May, this will however run on a reduced capacity, whilst maintaining a safe environment for our staff and customers by implementing enhanced guidelines.  For Ashford Fiat & Abarth customers, service and repairs will continue to be facilitated from our Maidstone location for the time being, along with any sales enquiries.

Delivery of vehicles for sold customer orders should start to arrive from mid May and we plan to get these delivered to the specific customers asap.  Although our physical sales showrooms are closed, our virtual showroom online is still open and we are able to take customer orders for new or used vehicles, with the virtual support of our key staff.  Going forward, we will also be offering a complimentary “home delivery” service on all vehicles purchased from Lipscomb Cars within a 50-mile radius from each dealership.

As many of you will know we were so close to relocating our Chartham Volvo business before COVID-19, but was unfortunately caught up waiting for the electricity company to provide use with power. To give you a sneak peek into our new Volvo dealership please watch our video. Hopefully it won’t be too long to wait until customers can experience the new site for themselves.

My vehicle has broken down, what should I do?

My MOT is due, can I book this in with Lipscomb?

Due to new government guidelines all MOT’s that expired from the 30th March have been given up to a six month extension as long as the vehicle is safe to drive.For further information please click here. Once our service departments are running back at full capacity, we will be pleased to arrange a convenient time for this to take place for you. However, if you are concerned from a safety nature please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

I need to speak to someone with regards to my current finance agreement?

We’ve had a number of enquiries from customers regarding questions relating to their current monthly payment and finance agreements.Unfortunately, due to FCA regulations and data protection, we are unable to discuss this information with you. If you would like to talk to someone with regards to an existing finance agreement, please contact the dedicated Customer Services Team at the relevant finance house who will be able to help with your enquiry. Please check your current financial documents to confirm who your current finance supplier is.

I’m interested in a new or used vehicle at Lipscomb?

Whilst you may not be able to physically visit our showrooms to view a new or used vehicle with the current restrictions we are very much open for business. We have made sure that all our pre-owned vehicles are listed on www.lipscomb.co.uk and other main stream used car websites, such as Autotrader or Motors. If you are interested in a specific vehicle a member of our support team is able to take a holding deposit over the phone to secure the vehicle of your choice from the comfort of your home and provide a finance quotation where required. Once our showrooms are open, we can then arrange for your chosen vehicle to be collected or if you prefer we can deliver under controlled conditions.

You can also take advantage of our online valuation tool to give you an indicative value of your current vehicle.

Am I able to book a Service or MOT in advance?

Although we are only open by appointment for essential service and repairs required for key workers we can provide support for safety recalls, breakdowns and emergency repairs, accident assistance etc. for our existing customer base. We are here to assist and if you have a problem please call.

Updated 27/03/20 -Temporary Closure of Lipscomb Dealerships

The current situation due to COVID-19 is placing strain on customers and businesses of all sizes. However, as a society, we are in this together and all have a part to play in helping to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure we come out of the other side as quickly as possible.

In light of the Government’s recent guidelines, we have reviewed all our dealership operations and taken the difficult decision to close our sites from Tuesday March 31st 2020.

We are taking the following measures with immediate effect:

  • Our showrooms are closed until further notice
  • Our service departments will only be available by appointment only for key workers and carers and to provide our customers with essential aftersales support. This will be facilitated from our Canterbury and Maidstone operations.
  • Our Bodyshop and Accident Management facilities will now operate from our Maidstone business until further notice and can be contacted by 07967 660124.
  • Our current telephone lines will be diverted from our current Ashford business to the larger Maidstone operation, all enquiries will be handled from this location for Fiat & Abarth sales, service and parts.

We will continue to update you via our website and social media channels. In addition, there are alternative ways to communicate with us on line via www.lipscomb.co.uk or you can contact us by telephone.
